Addressing the Liability Impact

of Automated Systems

ALIAS participation in the upcoming SESAR Innovation Days

Dear all,

we are glad to announce that ALIAS will be present at the upcoming SESAR Innovation Days (SIDs) 2014. The SIDs 2014 edition will take place in Madrid from tomorrow to Thursday, 27 November, and kindly hosted by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).

The ALIAS Network will be actively present through a poster presentation, which will be the occasion to show the 4 proposals developed by ALIAS in order to foster the SESAR research on liability and automation. We will profit from the ALIAS poster exhibition by presenting you also the videos of the second ALIAS Conference. The Conference (1-2 october 2014; Florence - Italy) addressed the legal challenges of innovative aviation technologies, with particular focus on ACAS X and RPAS, and involved lawyers, judges and technicians in the debate.

Lot of effort has been spent so far by our Network to feed the legal research in ATM. The fall publication of the SESAR Magazine, recently posted on the SESAR website and fully dedicated to SESAR Long-Term and Exploratory research, recognized the added value of the ALIAS Network activities within the Programme as unique initiative addressing the legal challenges of the paradigm shift required by automation, largely due to the results achieved.

We take the opportunity to thank all of our Network members for participating in our debate, both online and in the ALIAS Conference, thus contributing to the success of our Network initiatives, and invite all our website visitors to register and become Network members as well.

We would be very glad to meet you at SIDs and kindly invite you to visit us, so has to have a look at our poster and videos and be updated on the evolution of ALIAS!
